BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday felicitated Odisha’s Javelin star Kishore Kumar Jena with a cash award of Rs 1.5 crore for performance in the Asian Games 2023 recently conducted in Hangzhou, China. He has bagged a silver medal and confirmed his berth in the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024.
Kishore’s personal best of 87.54m helped him to secure the silver medal. Naveen expressed his confidence that Kishore would bring more laurels to the state and wished him the best of luck for the Paris Olympics.
Kishore, who hails from Puri’s Brahmagiri block, thanked the chief minister for recognising his effort and achievement. In the build-up to the Asian Games, he had secured 5th place at the World Athletics Championships held in Budapest. CM had announced a cash award of Rs 50 lakh for him that time.
