Bhubaneswar: The first phase of Census 2027 — house listing and housing census — will commence across all 30 districts of Odisha from April 16, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Friday, urging people to participate in the national exercise actively.
In a statement, the CM said the exercise is being conducted in coordination with the Census Directorate under ministry of home affairs, and the state’s revenue and disaster management department. Trained enumerators and supervisors will visit households between April 16 and May 15 to collect data.
Majhi said that ahead of the field survey, a self-enumeration facility has been made available to the public from April 1 to April 15 midnight through a portal.
“Those who have not yet provided their details are requested to do so through the portal. I have completed my self-enumeration and encourage everyone to follow the same,” he said.
Emphasising the importance of the exercise, the chief minister said the data collected during the census would play a crucial role in planning and implementing welfare schemes and development programmes at both the state and national levels.
From April 16 onwards, enumerators will personally visit homes to gather information. The CM appealed to citizens to provide accurate details and cooperate fully when officials reach out to them.
“Our govt has completed all preparations for the smooth conduct of this programme. I sincerely request the people of Odisha to extend their cooperation and help make this important national initiative a success,” Majhi said.
