Odisha: 1 dead, 7 injured as Rath touches live wire in Balasore

A 28-year-old man died and seven others were injured as they were electrocuted while pulling a chariot that came in contact with a live electric wire during the Rath Yatra festival in Odisha's Balasore district on Friday, police said.

BHUBANESWAR: In a tragic incident, one person got electrocuted and seven others sustained injuries after the Rath pulled by people came in contact with 11-kv live electric wire in Balasore district on Friday.
The incident occurred at around 5.30pm when devotees were pulling chariot during the Rath Yatra festival at Gudikhala village's Matha Sahi under Basta police limits in Balasore district.

People immediately took the injured to Basta community health centre. Anil Kumar Sahoo of Agarada village was received dead. Four people were shifted to district headquarters hospital at Balasore. Three are undergoing treatment at Basta CHC.
Pall of gloom descended on the village after this incident.
