Bhubaneswar: Popular Odia composer
Abhijit Majumdar was shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Thursday after his health deteriorated while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Cuttack. He is receiving treatment for multiple diseases.
"He has multiple comorbid conditions (hypertension, hypothyroidism, chronic liver disease) and was admitted to the emergency ward at 10am in a comatose state on ventilator support. He was shifted to the medical ICU at 12 noon for further management. He is still in coma and has pneumonia. His vitals (blood pressure and pulse) are stable," said Dr Srikant Behera, assistant professor, general medicine, AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
Sources said Majumdar, 54, fell ill while performing at an event during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations on Aug 27. He composed hundreds of songs for Odia films and albums. His composed music for films like ‘Love Story', ‘Sister Sridevi', ‘Golmaal Love', ‘Sundargarh Ra Salman Khan' and ‘Sriman Surdas'.
