Bhubaneswar: National Medical Commission has approved 15 new post graduate medical seats in the four departments of VSS Institute of Medical Science and Research (Vimsar), Burla. The decision was conveyed in a letter on Thursday.
The 15 new PG seats include 3 in pathology and 4 seats each in social & preventive medicines/community medicines, anaesthesiology and orthopaedics.
Vimsar currently has 3 seats in pathology, besides 6 in social & preventive medicines/community medicine, 10 in anaesthesiology and 2 in orthopaedics.
The commission granted approval for the expansion of medical seats across the country. Vimsar is the only medical college in the state which received approval for expansion of medical seats. Thursday’s letter issued by the commission includes the revised seat matrix of the departments.
