Rourkela: Bondamunda police Monday registered murder case after a woman’s body was found lying on her bed in her slum on Sunday afternoon. Police are suspecting she was killed by a man and Bondamunda police are interrogating him. The deceased woman was identified as Anita Ekka (40) of Sitalnagar. She has a 17-year-old son, Aman Ekka.
After the death of her husband, Anita was running a tea stall for her livelihood. Around 4:30 pm on Sunday, Aman could not find his mother. On searching, he found her body lying on the bed covered with bedsheet. There were injury marks on her face. He with some locals took the body to Rourkela Government Hospital and informed police, who sent the body for autopsy.
Police suspect that the man whom they detained on Saturday had gone Anita’s house and had a tussle with her, beat her up severely and might have strangled her, said S Khamari, IIC, Bondamunda police station.
