ANGUL: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan called upon women to bless and support Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he has done a lot for them. Pradhan was addressing a gathering on the occasion of Suraksha Bandhan Utsav at Bhuban in Dhenkanal district on Wednesday.
“In last 76 years, many governments have come. No doubt, they have done something for women. But today, the Modi government has surpassed all of them by launching schemes in support of women. What has been done in last 9 years, was not done in 76 years. Since Modi came to power in 2014, he has given priority to the welfare of women. He gave a gift to the women by lowering the price of LPG cylinder ahead of Raksha Bandhan. Similarly, subsidies to Ujwala beneficiaries have gone up to Rs 400,” Pradhan said.
“There were 14 crore LPG cylinder connections in 2014 and now it has gone up to 33 crore. In Odisha too, the beneficiaries under the scheme have gone up from 21 lakh to 86 lakh,” he said, adding that the Prime Minister has also announced the Lakhpati Didi scheme, aiming to provide skill training to two crore women.
He said the people of Dhenkanal will benefit from the PM Vishwakarma Yojana too.
