Man’s body fished out from river

Rourkela: The body of a man, who had allegedly jumped from a bridge into the Brahmani river here on Friday night, was fished out on Sunday. Bijay Gupta (40), of Basanti Colony here, reached the spot in his scooty at around 7.30 pm on Friday and suddenly jumped from the bridge into the river. Passers-by immediately informed Raghunathpalli police station. A fire service team was deployed but they could not locate Gupta’s body on Friday and Saturday. The family members of Gupta had lodged a missing person’s case. On Sunday, residents of Jamkoshi under Bonai police station limits, noticed a body floating in the river and informed the police. The fire services team and police fished out the body, which was identified as that of Gupta.TNN

2 bodies found, 2 missing after auto swept into river in Betul

Two bodies have been found after an autorickshaw was swept away in floodwaters while trying to cross a culvert in Betul district, Madhya Pradesh. Two others are still missing, and rescue teams have been searching for them since Friday. The culvert remains submerged, and efforts are ongoing to locate the victims. In a separate incident, the body of a 45-year-old woman who had been missing since Friday was found in Greater Noida. Police suspect foul play.
