Man pours acid on woman, son over land dispute

Kendrapada: A mother-son duo sustained severe burn injuries on Monday evening at Bachara village in Kendrapada district when a neighbour reportedly poured acid on them over a land dispute. The accused has been arrested.The victims have been identified as Rabindra Sahoo (33) and his 65-year-old mother Tukini Sahoo. They have sustained burns on the head, chest and face. They were first taken to the district hospital in Kendrapada and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.In an FIR filed on Tuesday, Rabindra’s wife Satyasini said her husband had recently got money from the govt to build a house. Last week, he collected building materials and kept them on his land. But Bijay Sahoo (35), a neighbour, opposed the construction work as he used to park his car on the land. He also abused and threatened to kill Rabindra if he did not halt the construction work.On Monday evening, Rabindra and Tukini were sitting in the house when Bijay came and poured acid on them. “Acting on the complaint, we arrested the accused,” said Pattamundai police station IIC Bandana Patra.
