Keonjhar: A 55-year-old man died after jumping 40 feet off Baitarani river bridge in Patna police station, Keonjhar district. The incident took place around 2 pm on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Biswanath Nayak of Shivnarayanpur village, Bada Patna Panchayat, Patna block. There is no clear information about the circumstances under which he went up the bridge and took such an extreme step. However, it is not clear whether he jumped off the bridge himself or fell.
“After receiving information, Patna police, along with fire brigade, reached the spot and rescued the body and sent it to Patna community health centre for post-mortem. After post-mortem and investigation, the cause of death could be confirmed,” said G Gardis, ASI of Patna police station, while visiting the place.
Police are investigating the incident from all angles, whether it is a mishap, suicide or other.
