Man arrested for blackmailing women with obscene messages and morphed content
Sundargarh police apprehended a 30-year-old man, Wilson Jaksa, for allegedly harassing and blackmailing young women with obscene messages and morphed content. Acting on an 18-year-old's complaint, investigators traced the accused, who confessed to using a discarded SIM card and social media to target victims. Authorities are now investigating for additional victims.
Rourkela: Police in Sundargarh district arrested a 30-year-old man on Wednesday night for allegedly sending obscene messages and morphed photos and videos to young women and blackmailing them. The accused has been identified as Wilson Jaksa.According to police, an 18-year-old girl lodged a complaint on Dec 10 last year stating that she had received calls, obscene messages and morphed photos and videos from an unknown number. She further alleged that similar content had been sent to several other girls in her area from the same number.

In her complaint, the girl alleged that the sender had threatened to make the content public on social media if she did not agree to his demands. Based on the complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation.Police sought assistance from the cyber cell to trace the origin of the messages. During their probe, officers identified the location of the accused, following which a police team raided his village on Wednesday and detained him. He was brought to the police station for questioning, during which he allegedly confessed to the crime.During interrogation, the accused told police that he had procured a SIM card, used it to open an account on an instant messaging platform, and later discarded the SIM to avoid detection. He allegedly contacted girls through two social media platforms, obtained their phone numbers, and then sent obscene messages and morphed content to blackmail them.Police said a mobile phone and a SIM card have been seized from the accused. He was formally arrested on Wednesday night. “We are continuing investigation to ascertain whether there are more victims,” said inspector Manoranjan Kumbhar.
