BERHAMPUR: Betrayed in love, a girl allegedly set afire three two-wheelers parked outside the house of her 'lover' at Sunapanga under Baliguda police station in Kandhamal district on Saturday night.
The girl took revenge against Dinesh Nayak, 25, who refused to be in a relationship with her. Dinesh is an unemployed youth.
The 20-year old girl of Kanjamendi under K Nuagaon police limits alleged that he attacked her when she came to his house to see the burnt bikes on Sunday.
She refuted the allegation of his family members that she set fire to the vehicles.
The girl lodged an FIR in the police station against Dinesh, alleging that he attacked her. Before the girl lodged the FIR, grandfather of Dinesh, Putulu Digal, lodged an FIR against the girl for setting the vehicles afire. Family members of Dinesh said she had a heated exchange of words with Dinesh on Saturday.
Two separate cases have been registered and investigation is on, said inspector in-charge, Baliguda police station, Rama Kant Patra. Police said they were in a relationship for more than one year and Dinesh assured to marry her. The relationship turned sour due to some dispute. Though the girl was pursuing the relationship, he refused to keep relationship with her, police said.
