Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra's arch rival Sanjay Das Burma gets a breather

BHUBANESWAR: Death of senior Congress leader Lulu brought an end to his continuous tirade against his arch-rival and food supplies and consumer welfare minister

"I knew Lulu babu gathered some documentary evidence against Sanjay Das Burma on some corruption issues. But he never disclosed them to us. He had planned to go to the media with the evidence," said a close aide of Lulu. Among Lulu's attacks against Sanjay, the most lethal was the minister's alleged links in Artha Tatwa (AT) Group Ponzi scam. On March 17, Lulu convened a news conference and accused Sanjay of having received an SUV from AT Group chief Pradeep Sethy. To substantiate his charge, Lulu showed a document in which Sethy admitted before the CBI that he gifted the vehicle to Sanjay.

The CBI on April 4 summoned Sanjay to appear with papers of his vehicles. It is still a mystery whether the CBI questioned Sanjay.

On April 8, Lulu alleged Sanjay floated five shell companies to divert his unaccounted money. Sanjay had rubbished all the charges.
