Bhubaneswar: The crime branch on Thursday detained two key suspects for their alleged involvement in multi-crore corruption surrounding the postponed Combined Police Service Examinations-2024 (CPSE). However, the prime accused, , is on the run.
“We have detained Prusty’s key aide, Muna Mohanty, and another associate. They are being questioned,” a senior crime branch official said. Prusty, against whom a lookout circular was recently issued, was reported to run a private company that was subcontracted by another firm responsible for conducting the recruitment tests. Prusty is believed to be the mastermind behind a sophisticated network of inter-state brokers. These brokers allegedly charged aspirants about Rs 25 lakh each, promising them selection into the Odisha police.
So far, the probe agency has arrested 119 people, including 114 candidates. The candidates included some serving constables and the son of a retired DIG. These candidates were reportedly taken to neighbouring Andhra Pradesh for special training sessions on suspected leaked exam questions.
