Bhubaneswar: The IMD on Thursday was yet to give a clear picture on the path or intensity of a possible cyclonic storm likely to form over the Bay of Bengal by May 9.
“The system is under constant watch and being monitored regularly. The details of its path and intensification will be provided after the formation of low-pressure areas,” said an IMD bulletin.
IMD scientist Umashankar Das, however, said the fishermen were being advised not to venture into the southeast Bay of Bengal from May 7 onwards till further notice.
According to IMD’s latest forecast, the low-pressure area expected to form by May 7 under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over south east Bay of Bengal, will intensify into depression by May 8.
IMD scientist added that day temperature will rise in the state from Saturday.
