IMD sounds fresh rain alert till Friday

BHUBANESWAR: A fresh low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is likely to bring widespread rainfall in some areas till Friday, an IMD report said on Tuesday.

The Met department issued orange and yellow warnings of heavy to very heavy rainfall in some districts — spread over coastal and interior Odisha — during the next two days.

Forecast of heavy rain comes in the backdrop of light to moderate showers during Ganesh Chaturthi on Tuesday. Chatrapur received the highest 34.4 mm rainfall during the day, the IMD’s rainfall report stated. The rain is also likely to dampen the mood of Nuakhai festivities in western Odisha. tnn

Heavy rains likely in Hyderabad for two days, IMD issues yellow alert

The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad, Medchal, and Rangareddy for Thursday and Friday due to chances of thunderstorms caused by a new low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. There is also a north-south trough that could lead to rains in north and east Telangana. On Wednesday, Hyderabad experienced overcast skies and some parts of the city received rainfall. The yellow alert also extends to several other districts in Telangana.

Heavy rainfall likely to hit Chaturthi preparations

The India meteorological department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Goa and Maharashtra's Konkan region from September 16 to 18, indicating heavy rainfall during Ganesh Chaturthi preparations. Moderate to light rainfall is expected in Goa on September 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 due to a well-marked low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. The Ganesh Chaturthi festival is scheduled for September 19.

Maharashtra: IMD upgrades heavy rain alert to orange for today
