Odisha: Hockey stars return home amid cheers

ROURKELA: The

hockey Olympians

were given a rousing reception on return to their home in Sundargarh district on Saturday. Residents of the district were euphoric to see their favourite sons and daughters as they were taken in a procession in Sundargarh town.

, all natives of Sundargarh, represented India at the Tokyo Olympics. A large crowd descended upon Jharsuguda airport to welcome the

hockey stars

.

“We are extremely happy to be back home and get such a grand welcome,” said Birendra Lakra. “It is indeed a great moment for all of us and we are thankful to the district administration for giving us such a welcome,” said Amit Rohidas.
