Govt to invest Rs 1L-cr for Jajpur’s devpt: CM
Kendrapada: Govt will soon invest around Rs 1 lakh crore for the development of Jajpur, chief minister Mohan Majhi said on Saturday evening, stating that the district plays a crucial role in the industrial and economic framework of the state.Addressing a meeting at Dharmasala Mahotsav, the CM said, "Union govt has approved the establishment of a commercial-cum-strategic petroleum reserve facility at Dankari near Chandikhol in Jajpur district. The project will cost about Rs 18,000 crore creating potentially the largest oil reserve in the country, which will boost the GDP of Odisha and increase other auxiliary economic activities in the region by providing employment to 5,000 people. Expansion of the Tata Steel plant at Kalinganagar will create more jobs in the state.""To further harness its potential, we must focus on enhancing Jajpur's infrastructure and positioning it as a national and global industrial hub. Govt is keen to foster strong partnerships between MSMEs and large industries, ensuring a vibrant and thriving industrial ecosystem," he said. "The famous Buddhist sites of Lalitgiri, Ratnagiri and Udayagiri in Jajpur district and its nearby areas will be developed to attract more tourists. Jajpur was the capital of Odisha under the Kesari dynasty. With its existing assets of religious, urban and Buddhist tourism, it has the potential to become a major tourist hub. The cultural heritage of Jajpur is reflected in its vibrant art forms," the CM said."The history of Jajpur from time immemorial is synonymous with Biraja and Biraja Khetra. We are making all our efforts for the development of Jajpur district," he added."In our govt, priority is given to safeguarding the rights of people from all sections. All our workers need to strengthen the party further in this constituency and boost the membership campaign. They must work for the people and in the interest of the people," Majhi said. Jajpur MP Rabindra Narayan Behera, Dharmasala MLA Himanshu Sekhar Sahoo, Korei MLA Akash Das Nayak, among others, spoke.
