The department has issued a directive to the district-level authorities, asking them to communicate with the heads of schools and request them to hang the lesson plans outside classrooms.

The document has been prepared in line with the guidelines of the National Council for Educational Research and Training. Teachers and students will follow the lesson plans, which will have specific focus on subjects and classes.

“You are requested to take steps in sending the materials on learning outcome to the headmasters of schools with a request to hang class-wise and subject-wise materials on learning outcome,” reads the directive issued to the district-level authorities.

“This practice was there earlier but had been discontinued. Such plans work well,” said Sukanta Jena, a retired schoolteacher.

In the plan for Class I and II, the focus will be on improving basic maths. The students will be taught skills such as addition and subtraction of small numbers as per the chart. They will also be taught to identify numbers from zero to 99. Similarly, in the plan for Class III, IV and V, the focus will be on mid-level mathematics study, basic level of English and environmental studies. In English, students will learn to introduce themselves and also sing and recite songs with action for better understanding.
