BHUBANESWAR: The state government on Tuesday requested Nalco to establish a medical college in tribal dominated Koraput district.
In a letter to Nalco chairman-cum- managing director BL Bagra, health secretary Pradipta Kumar Mahapatra requested the company to come out with a detailed proposal by July 5. Mahapatra argued that PSUs National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Mahandi Coalfields Limited (MCL), which have operations in Odisha, have already committed a medical college and hospital each in the state.
