BHUBANESWAR: Odisha governor Raghubar Das on Monday appealed to vice-chancellors of universities, directors of national institutions and heads of other higher education institutions to work as a team to take forward the dream and aspiration of the Viksit Bharat.
While addressing a workshop ‘Viksit Bharat@2047: Voice of Youth’, Das said India is a country of youth and filled with talents. He advised the heads of the institutions to utilise the power of youth successfully.
He said the National Education Policy, 2020 is very useful for the country. “It will encourage traditional and modern development. It will maintain balance between Indian and modern knowledge systems and create opportunities for providing education through mother-tongue,” he added.
Das said empowerment of women and farmers is being done. India has become a new address for the foreign direct investment (FDI). “We need to invest our positive mindset towards the development of the county through the youths,” he added.
He said India will become a Vishwaguru in future. “It will become the third biggest economy in the world by 2028,” he added.
Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan spoke on the occasion via videoconferencing followed by prime minister Narendra Modi. VCs of universities, directors of national institutes, teachers and principals of degree colleges, heads of higher education and technical institutions attended the programme at the Raj Bhawan here.
“PM advised us to take the responsibility of Viksit Bharat and collect ideas from the youth. Best ideas will be rewarded by the PM. He said innovative ideas should be implemented by the universities,” said Santosh Kumar Tripathy, vice-chancellor of Fakir Mohan University Balasore.
He said his university has started research works on Pan, Dhan and Mina (betel leaves, paddy and fish). “We have also started ‘Teach One, Each One’ programme to help the school dropout kids to return to school. Besides, we are implementing new ideas in the university,” he added.
