BHUBANESWAR: The election to the office of the speaker of the state legislative assembly will be held on June 13. The position has been lying vacant following the resignation of

ahead of Naveen's cabinet rejig exercise.

According to a notification issued by the assembly secretariat, the process of filing nomination for the speaker's post will be held on Friday (June 10). The state assembly will meet for a day on Monday for the election for which summons has already been issued to its 147 members.

BJD sources said six-time party MLA,

Bikram Keshari Arukha

, will file his papers for the prestigious post and is all set to be elected unanimously. Arukha has a vast experience of parliamentary and house proceedings as he has been winning the

Bhanjanagar

assembly constituency since 1995.

He also held several key portfolios like rural development, law, parliamentary affairs, forest and environment, cooperation and information and public relations in various terms of the Naveen government since 2009.

As a legislator, he was also a part (chairman/member) of various committees of the state assembly.
