BHUBANESWAR: A 70-year-old patient allegedly took his own life by hanging in the orthopaedic ward at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The hospital and police authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shocking incident.
The deceased was identified as Dilip Sahoo from Jajpur district. Police sources said he was admitted to AIIMS on December 5.
The bizarre incident occurred in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday despite the presence of some other patients, their attendants, and hospital staff. The deceased’s attendant daughter, Harapriya, said she woke up to the shocking death of her father.
“We are trying to find out all details including the cause of suicide,” DCP Pinak Mishra said.
