Dutee case: Jual moves sports minister

BHUBANESWAR: Union tribal affairs minister Jual Oram on Tuesday urged Union sports minister Sarbananda Sonowal to intervene into the incident of Dutee Chand's last minute exclusion from the Commonwealth Games (CWG) squad.
In his letter to Sonowal, Oram wrote, "It is unfortunate that Dutee Chand was dropped from the team after she was selected by the Athletics Federation of India. She is a victim of conspiracy and injustice by the Sports Authority of India and the sports ministry should conduct a high-level inquiry into it."
He urged the sports minister to take steps to allow Dutee Chand to participate in the CWG.
Alleging discrimination and internal politics in various sports agencies, Oram said in his letter, "Many prominent and upcoming sports talents are falling prey to favouritism and conspiracy in sports organizations."
