One of the trucks moved to the right side of the road while overtaking another vehicle. As a result, the biker, Das, fell on the ground but escaped injury narrowly. Das intercepted the jawans and protested their rash driving. In reply, six jawans allegedly beat up the man and the girl.
Vishwanath Acharya, Dhenkanal Sadar sub-collector, who also happened to be on his way to Bhubaneswar, noticed the incident and stopped to inquire into the matter. Acharya informed town police station officials about the incident, who rushed to the spot and interrogated the people involved.
Suvendu Das lodged an FIR with town police station. "FIR has been lodged against the two CRPF jawans and a few of their colleagues on charges of beating the child and his uncle," said investigation officer P K Pradhan. A counter case has been lodged by one of the CRPF jawans too, he added.
