Constable injured in firing

CUTTACK: A constable took a bullet after a bank's security guard's gun went off accidentally at Madhupatna here on Monday.
Police said the accident occurred when cash was being shifted from the bank. Constable Subash Chandra Swain and private security guard of the bank Kamal Lochan Mohapatra were accompanying the vehicle to ensure its security.
Mohapatra accidentally pressed the trigger while loading his gun and a bullet hit Swain in the leg.The constable was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital here and his condition stated to be stable, police said.
"The security guard has been arrested under Section 338 of IPC for causing greivous injury to the constable," said inspector-in-charge of Madhupatna police station Jitendra Dalei.
