Coaching centre evading GST was linked to BJD leaders: Mishra

Bhubaneswar: Leader of opposition Jayanarayan Mishra on Friday raised the issue of GST raid on a coaching centre and questioned his link with ruling BJD leaders.Making a Special Mention on the issue during Zero Hour, Jayanarayan said the owner of the coaching centre was very close to some influential BJD leaders, which is established from his photographs with them. BJD MLA Arun Sahoo denied the charges.The Directorate General of GST Intelligence, Bhubaneswar Zonal Unit had raids premises of the coaching centre in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. “The raid was done on the basis of a search warrant. The coaching centre was offering tuition and selling books to students as a combo (bundle) service and was liable to pay tax for the books However, it evaded tax on books,” a GST officer said.
