Centre sanctions ₹3.2 cr for devpt of 16 tribal villages in Gajapati dist

Berhampur: The Centre has sanctioned Rs 3.20 crore to Gajapati district under the Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAAGY) for the integrated development of tribal dominated villages in the first phase.
The district administration has selected at least 16 remote villages in four blocks — Gumma, R Udayagiri, Rayagada and Nuagada — in the first phase under the scheme. The main objective of the scheme is to achieve socio-economic development of the selected villages through convergence approach.
“Development plans for each selected village have already been prepared. Work will start soon and will be executed by the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Paralakhemundi,” said Lingaraj Panda, Gajapati collector. A meeting was held recently to chalk out a plan for the proper implementation of the scheme. The collector is the chairman of the district level committee of PMAAGY.
The central government has revamped the existing scheme of the Special Central Assistance to Tribal Sub-Scheme with PMAAGY for implementation during 2021-22 to 2025-26.
“Village development plans have been prepared with much stress on road and mobile connectivity, education and primary health facilities. Besides, the enhancement of livelihood of the tribal people has also been prioritised under the scheme,” said Goutam Swain, project manager, ITDA, Paralakhemundi.
