Capital gets new fire-fighting unit

Bhubaneswar: Director general (fire service) Santosh Upadhyay on Friday inaugurated a striking fire force at the Odisha Fire and Disaster Response Academy here.
In August, chief minister Naveen Patnaik approved the creation of the SFF to carry out rescue operations during crisis situations, including urban flooding, fire in highrise buildings/hospitals, train accidents, chemical disasters and industrial fire.
While the newly created force has been positioned under the Bhubaneswar range, two more such units would be set up at Sambalpur and Berhampur ranges. TNN
