Bid to improve beach safety, lifeguard coordination

Bhubaneswar: In a move to strengthen beach safety protocols, Puri police on Sunday conducted a comprehensive briefing session at the beach. Led by SP Vinit Agrawal, the objective of the meeting focused on implementing robust safety measures for tourists and improving coordination with lifeguard services. "Lifeguards serve as our first line of defence in ensuring beach safety," additional SP Sushil Mishra said during the briefing. The police also outlined several key initiatives during the briefing.These initiatives include the implementation of clear demarcation of dangerous zones using red flags and warning signboards, and regular conduct of mock drills and refresher training in CPR and first aid. Lifeguards were asked to enhance communication protocols with local police and medical facilities. They were also asked to follow due conduct and maintain a professional appearance.
