The accused, Ajay Pradhan, a vendor of vehicle tracking devices in Keonjhar district, was arrested by the city police's High Efficiency Response (HER) squad, formed to ensure women's safety and combat their harassment.

Police sources said the accused had befriended the woman doctor, who works at a corporate hospital in the capital city, on a social media platform about a year ago. Police sources revealed that Pradhan, who is married, introduced himself as a bachelor and took her out on several dates.

The relationship turned sour when the doctor discovered Pradhan's true marital status and began distancing herself from the relationship.
