Berhampur: The
Berhampur Municipal Corporation
(
BeMC
) on Friday proposed to set up a first-of-its-kind mobile crematorium for pet animals in the
Silk City
. The civic body has allotted Rs 50 lakh for the purpose in its annual budget of Rs 462.84 crore for 2022-23 which was placed on Friday.
“The proposed crematorium will be movable. It will be stationed in at least three government locations to cremate pet animals, especially dogs. The locations are yet to be finalized,” said
Siddheshwar Baliram Bondar
, BeMC commissioner.
“The proposed animal crematorium is expected to fulfil the long-felt need of the animal owners in the city to give their pets a dignified farewell,” said BeMC mayor
