Rourkela: Two teams of Koida forest range under Bonai forest division of Sundargarh district rescued a barking deer aged around six months near a residential house on Tuesday.
Forest officials of Koida forest range received a tip-off that a male resident of Jhirpani village brought a barking deer from Toda reserve forest while grazing a goat. Two teams of officials from Jamdihi and Toda forest sections went to Jhirpani village on Tuesday and found the deer near the man’s house. They took the animal to Bonai forest range office.
The veterinarian was called and the deer’s health was checked.
Koida forest is trying to identify the man who kept the barking deer. “The deer, kept in the Bonai forest range office, will be released in the forest on Wednesday," said Duryodhan Jerai, asst conservator of forests, Bona forest division.
