Balasore election results 2024 live updates: BJP's Pratap Chandra Sarangi triumphs in Balasore, Defeats BJD's Lekhasri Samantsinghar by 147,156 Votes
In the closely watched Balasore constituency election of 2024, BJP's Pratap Chandra Sarangi emerged victorious, marking a significant win against his nearest rival, BJD's Lekhasri Samantsinghar.
After establishing an early lead with a margin of 7108 votes, Sarangi managed to maintain and significantly extend his advantage as the counting progressed. The final tally revealed a resounding victory for Sarangi, who won the seat by a staggering margin of 147156 votes, outpacing Samantsinghar
Balasore is a district located in the state of Odisha, India. It is situated on the northern coast of Odisha, bordered by the Bay of Bengal to the east. Furthermore, it shares borders with the states of West Bengal and Jharkhand.
Balasore constituency is one of Odisha state's 21 Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies. It is a general-category parliamentary seat and comprises parts of the Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts. The literacy rate is 67.65 per cent. It has 7 legislative assembly s

On June 1, the constituency began polling in the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The prominent candidates for this year are Pratap Chandra Sarangi from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Srikant Kumar Jena from Indian National Congress (INC), and Lekhasari Samantsinghar from Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Pratap Chandra Sarangi from BJP won with 4,83,858 votes, followed by Rabindra Kumar Jena from BJD who got 4,70,902 votes.
In the 2014 elections, Rabindra Kumar Jena from BJD won the election with 4,33,768 votes, followed by Pratap Chandra Sarangi from BJP with 2,91,943 votes.
Balasore has a diverse population, with a mix of urban and rural areas. The constituency comprises a significant number of voters from various communities.
Approximately, 18.7 per cent are Scheduled Caste (SC), 18.59 per cent are Scheduled Tribe (ST), and 5 per cent are Muslim, as per the voter data.
