9 students of Silk City college suspended for ragging

Berhampur: Authorities of government-run Khallikote Junior College here on Monday suspended nine Plus-II (second-year) students from the campus on charges of ragging and create disturbance on the campus.
A Plus-II (first-year) girl student on Saturday complained to the principal that some senior students had passed lewd comments and created disturbance in her class by bursting crackers. She alleged that girl students were not feeling safe on the campus.
While the complaint of the girl was being investigated by the anti-ragging committee, the college authorities took action against the students as a precautionary measure.
“In September, six of these students had been also suspended for a week from the campus as they were found ragging junior students. We have suspended these students again as they allegedly created disturbance on the campus,” said principal Radha Kant Nayak.
He said the names of these students have been intimated to the Berhampur SP and local police station as per the recommendation of the anti-ragging committee for indiscipline.
On Thursday, Binayak Acharya College here had expelled 12 students of Plus-III and Plus-II for allegedly ragging a girl student. Earlier, the police had arrested five of them, including two teenagers.
