5 drown while bathing in river, pond after Holi celebrations

Kendrapada: Five people drowned while bathing in the rivers and in a pond in Jajpur, Kendrapada and Jagatsinghpur districts on Wednesday after celebrating Holi.The five deceased were identified as Shubha Sankalp Barik ( 22) of Tunga village under Aul police station in Kendrapada district, Sanjay Mohapatra (24) of Dihasahi village under Biridi police station in Jagatsinghpur district, Hiranya Kumar Beuria (23) of Japada village under Bari police station in Jajpur district, Sangram Das (38) of Jokadia village under Jajpur Road police station and Sonu Yadav (23) of Gorakhpur, UP.Their bodies were fished out on Wednesday by fire brigade personnel and locals. All bodies were sent for autopsy.Yadav drowned while taking bath in a pond at Jajpur Road. He was serving in a private company in Jajpur Road. “While entering the Beluakhai river, one steps into a deep pit. This is the main reason behind the death of Sanjaya Mohapatra,” said Ranjan Mohapatra, a local.
