pilgrimages.

According to the complainants, Abdul Rahim of Kumbharpara promised to make the best arrangements for them around a year ago and collected the amount as advance in the name of Al Khatib Tours & Travels, Sambalpur. Later, Abdul Rahim told them that he had transferred the money to

When the complainants went to the office of Akbar Tours & Travels, Raipur, to inquire about their tickets, they were told by the tour operator that it had not received any amount from Abdul Rahim.

For the last one month, Abdul Rahim has been telling the complainants that he has deposited the amount with the Raipur tour operator and he can neither help them nor return their money. He also threatened them of dire consequences if they inform police, the complainants said.

A complainant, Hazi Mohammad Islam, 70, said, “Abdul Rahim took Rs 66,000 from me promising me to book tickets and arrange lodging for me for the pilgrimage. Though we repeatedly asked him to give back our money, he did not return it. We called on the superintendent of police Kanwar Vishal Singh over the issue today. He has assured to take action against the culprit,” he said.

Additional superintendent of police P K Mohapatra said a case has been registered in the Dhanupali police station and probe into the matter is on. “Appropriate action will be taken,” he said.
