3 cops suspended in Odisha over custodial death at Choudwar station

CUTTACK: The Odisha govt on Monday suspended three police personnel for an alleged custodial death in Choudwar police station.

The govt suspended Biswa Ranjan Sahu, in charge of Choudwar police station, sub inspector Niranjan Goda and Kamal Lochan Majhi, constable, Odisha Armed Police Force, for the death of Rasananda Nayak in police custody.

Nayak (38), a native of Dhenkanal district, allegedly died by suicide in police custody after his arrest over an alleged bike theft. His family members alleged he was tortured forcing him to take the extreme step.
