2 held for raping 11-year-old, girl now pregnant

KENDRAPADA: Two men were arrested in Jagatsinghpur district on Thursday for allegedly raping and impregnating an 11-year-old girl.

The girl, a Class V student, is four months pregnant. Police said she was raped multiple times by the accused, one of whom is her 53-year-old tutor and the other his neighbour.

The girl's father lodged a police complaint on Wednesday alleging that the two men raped her for the past five months. Police began a probe and arrested the men, booking them under sections 376 and 506 of the IPC, among others. Police said when the minor girl, who is a dalit, told both the accused about her pregnancy, they threatened her.

The girl’s mother suspected that her daughter was pregnant after noticing physical changes in her,” said police officer. The girl was examined by doctors at a community health centre.
