15-yr-old raped by neighbour gives birth to girl

KENDRAPADA: A 15-year-old dalit student, repeatedly raped by his 25-year-old neighbour, gave birth to a baby girl in Odisha's Jajpur Wednesday, the eve of her Class 10 math paper.

It marks the second such birth during the ongoing HSC examination in the state after a 16-year-old rape survivor and Class 10 student of a govt-run residential school gave birth to a baby in the hostel on Monday .

The 15-year-old girl was rushed to a community health centre after complaining of severe abdominal pain. Police detained the 25-year-old accused, booking him under Pocso Act. "The accused had been sexually abusing her for a year," IO Ramakanta Nayak said.
