1 more held for aiding fake doctor

Bhubaneswar: The commissionerate police on Sunday arrested a man for allegedly helping Ramesh Swain (66), a fake doctor who had married several women in the state and outside for the purpose of cheating. The accused was identified as Abhijit Das, a resident of Cuttack.
Police said Das was aware of Swain’s fraudulent activities and helped him obtain fake documents and identity cards.While Swain claimed to be a doctor under the ministry of health, he used to introduce Das as his liaison officer.
“Das prepared fake identity proofs for Swain and was his close associate,” a senior police officer said. Swain was arrested on February 14 on charges of marrying at least 18 women and defrauding them of lakhs of rupees. tnn
