According to SHO Naveen Pandey the survivor’s husband, who runs a private company, had borrowed Rs2.5 lakh from one of the accused, Shekhar Soni. The other accused, Sanjay Sisodia had helped them fetch the loan from Soni. As they were facing financial difficulties, the survivor’s husband could not repay some of the instalments of the loan.

Soni and Sisodia started calling on the survivor’s number and threatened that they would submit her husband’s signed cheques in bank and get them dishonoured. Last year, on September 17, Sisodia called the survivor telling her that Soni wants to discuss the matter with her. He asked her to meet him at the Polytechnic Square. When the survivor reached the spot around 2.30pm, Sisodia picked her up in his car. He took her to Soni’s farmhouse in Gandhi Nagar where both of them raped her taking turns. Sisodia then dropped her off at the Mata Mandir Square in his car, said SHO Pandey.

Sisodia and Soni warned the survivor of dire consequences, if speaks out. On January 28, when her husband was out of town for some work, Sisodia barged into her house around 12.30am in the night and raped her even as her daughters were sleeping in the other room, SHO Pandey said.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by the couple, police have registered a case on charges of gang rape against the accused.
