BHOPAL: The state capital has been witnessing heavy rain in many of its parts over the past few days. After weeks of scorching sun, it has brought the much needed relief to the citizens. Though it was continuously raining in
Bhopal
since Tuesday morning, it did not keep people inside their houses. Even as the rain didn’t stop by afternoon, locals continued to flock around the popular hangout places.
Citizens woke up to a rainy day with showers at regular intervals. Many were caught unawares by the continuous rain and took shelter under trees or cafes, trying not to get drenched.
Places like
Boat Club
,
Van Vihar
and
Sair Sapata
that usually observe less crowds during the afternoons because of the hot humid weather saw a huge number of people celebrating weather transitions. The rain brought about significant decrease in temperatures and humidity levels.
Shobha Sen, a city resident, said: “We were planning to go to the park for a very long time, but had to cancel because of the hot weather that had made it impossible to go out even in the evenings. It feels refreshing to roam around with the family after housework.”
Due to heavy rains, it was difficult to see the roads due to
waterlogging
. College students and people on two-wheelers found it tough to commute as they were seen rushing to sheds nearby seeking refuge.
Rains have also increased the footfall at Van Vihar. With peacocks and other birds chirping merrily, it is a pleasant sight. Driving past the city’s tea stalls and snack shops, groups of people were seen at all these bustling places.The perfect skyline and live singing sessions in cafes at Upper Lake set the mood right for all.
Vikas Khatri, a student, said, “Colleges have just started and we are slowly getting used to the routine. Days like this gives us an opportunity to relax after college before heading home.”
