BHOPAL: Early winter showers in several parts of Madhya Pradesh have troubled farmers again, raising concern for the rabi crops which were sown late. Meanwhile, rain and thunder showers accompanied with hail storm battered many parts of the state, including Vindhya Pradesh, Chambal and Bundelkhand.
Sidhi in Vindhya Pradesh, which was rain deficient during the monsoon, received almost 6 cm of rainfall (58.6 mm) during the last 24 hours till Friday. Besides, Khajuraho (4 cm) Tikamgarh, Nagod in Katni and Satna (3 cm), Betul (2 cm) and Umaria (1 cm) also received rain. Following rainfall, the mercury went down. Shivpuri in

was the coldest with the temperture recorded at 9 degrees Celsius.
The weather office said that all the districts of Rewa, Sagar and Shahdol divisions and Katni and Jabalpur districts experienced rainfall during the last 24 hours.
The city office of the Indian Meteorological department (IMD) has issued a warning for lightning and thunder showers at some places over Rewa, Sagar and Shahdol divisions and the districts of Katni, Jabalpur, Bhind, Morena, Gwalior, Datia, Shivpuri, Raisen, Vidisha, Hoshangabad and Betul.
It also warned of dense fog on Saturday at many districts over Chambal, Hoshangabad, Bhopal, Rewa, Sagar, Shahdol and Jabalpur districts.
The inclement weather conditions created by the “early winter rains have affected adversely many rabi crops”, said Anil Yadav, state general secretary president of Bhartiya Kisan Union.
Yadav also said that the “onion saplings planted recently and small plants of wheat crop were damaged extensively in large scale at many places hit by hailstorm and rainfall.”
