Wife alleges hubby embraced Islam to remarry, wants forgery case against him

BHOPAL: Wife of Amit Advani, who converted to Islam as Ayan Khan, urged police to file a case of forgery against him alleging he converted only to marry Firdaus, 45, with whom he has been living for the past few months.
Sparring couple decided to separate with mutual consent on Tuesday, as complainant woman had a day earlier sought time to think over the proposal mooted by her husband to continue living with both women.
First wife of Amit, a resident of Nariyalkheda, had alleged that her husband, a private company employee, had embraced Islam just to live with Firdaus. Amit also took his four-year-old daughter along with him and they moved to Ahmedabad from where they were brought by city police last Friday.
During last counseling session at Mahila Thana, Amit had suggested he didn't want to leave either of them. He proposed that he was ready to spend time with both women and provide equal rights to both children (from his first wife and Firdaus).
Thereafter, complainant had sought two days to think over.
During the session, when Amit was asked whether he had medically converted to Islam by undergoing circumcision, he replied in the negative. He said he prayed five times a day after embracing Islam and in an affidavit showed Faizan Khan as his father.
However, complainant, his first wife, demanded that he should undergo a medical test and if he has not fully converted to Islam (medically) then a case of forgery should be slapped against him.
SP North Arvind Saxena said that since the matter was a sensitive, religious and legal advice would be sought before pressing any charges.
Amit was reluctant at first but when his first wife insisted, he agreed that he would do whatever she wanted. The complainant has also demanded legal rights for her four-year old daughter.
