Gurjar was taken to JEH Hospital in Gwalior where he is being treated for the injuries.
Police had launched a crackdown on the dacoit following orders of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The operation began with the demolition of houses of Gudda’s gang members in Morena last week.
Gudda was carrying a bounty of Rs 65,000 and faces 12 criminal cases. The police forces of Morena and Sheopur districts had teamed up to take him down. Recently, he terrorised people in Chanchul village, demanding that they hand over their land to him or leave the region.
His relatives have encroached upon 300 bighas of forest land in the same area. Last week CM had issued instructions to the police and administration, via video-conferencing, to take tough action against him. Houses of his gang members and sympathisers were razed to mount pressure on him.
