Volunteers paint 'drab' MP govt school walls with vibrant colours
BHOPAL: In order to change the dull environs of the existing classrooms of government-run schools in Madhya Pradesh, an
A young team from the NGO
From dingy classrooms, walls stained with pan spits to fresh and colourful learning spaces, the team changed the drab ambiance of the classrooms.
Armed with paints, brushes, masks, and lots of exciting ideas, Gramiskha city head Tanya Moolchandani and her team gave the school a total structural makeover.
“With the help of volunteers in collaboration with India@75, we changed the classrooms for the better. The condition of this school was really bad. Along with the dirty environment, the school had a broken structure,” Tanya told TOI.
Tanya said the team first repaired the dilapidated structure of the school and then painted it white. Thereafter, the artists did their job and painted various graffiti offering motivation for visual learning.
“We raised funds for the cause and India@75 also sponsored us to bear the cost of paints and other materials,” Tanya added.
The stairs, doors, windows, and walls were modified in such a way that they would attract kids to attend their classes. The volunteers also studied the curriculum of different classes in order to draw related images in the classrooms.
The impact of the makeover of this school was so inspiring that the team is now set to identify more schools and change the way they look.
Gramiksha began its journey with the help of a group of students who wanted to help schoolchildren. While they could see a positive impact, they also realised the potential that the youths of the country, as a whole, possessed.
“If every person’s contribution can be brought together on a common platform with a shared vision, that is when the change we wish to see will actualise,” Tanya further said.
