Bhopal: A shocking video showing on-duty policemen sleeping on a patient's bed and even urinating in a dustbin inside the district hospital has led to the suspension of four cops in Sidhi district.
The incident came to light after a video, which surfaced on social media on April 13, purportedly showed heavily drunk cops indulging in acts unbecoming of police force. Their police uniforms were also visible hanging nearby, raising serious concerns about discipline during a sensitive assignment.
The policemen had been deployed to guard an undertrial prisoner, who was admitted to the district hospital on March 28 after his health worsened and was later referred to Rewa for further treatment. The team was led by assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Narmada Prasad Prajapati and included constables Udayraj Singh, Jitendra Singh and Manish Tiwari.
Following the viral video, an internal inquiry confirmed the identities of the personnel and found that the misconduct occurred under the influence of alcohol. The probe also pointed to a lack of proper supervision by the officer in charge at the time. Taking swift action, the Sidhi police suspended all four cops for gross indiscipline, negligence of duty, and damaging the reputation of the police force. During the suspension period, they have been attached to the reserve centre in Sidhi and instructed to follow departmental procedures.
