Vidisha election results 2024 live updates: BJP's Shivraj Singh Chouhan wins
NEW DELHI: Shivraj Singh Chouhan of the Bharatiya Janata Party emerged victorious, securing 1,116,460 votes, which is 821,408 more than the runner-up. Pratapbhanu Sharma of the Indian National Congress came in second place with 295,052 votes, trailing the winner by 821,408 votes.
Kishan Lal Ladiya of the Bahujan Samaj Party received 10,816 votes, falling short of the winner by 1,105,644 votes. Kamlesh Kumar Gour of the Jai Prakash Janata Dal secured 8,178 votes, 1,108,282 votes behind the winner. Independent candidate Dhoolsingh Dhamma obtained 3,424 votes, while another independent candidate, Satyendra Singh Sisodiya, received 2,925 votes.
Dharmvir Bharti of the Akhil Bhartiya Parivar Party secured 2,819 votes, and independent candidates Abdul Rashid and Abdul Jabbar received 1,682 and 1,082 votes, respectively. Bhai Munshilal Silawat of the Public Political Party obtained 1,117 votes, and Seema Sharma of the Sapaks Party received 1,073 votes. Dharmendra Singh Panwar (Golu Bhaiya) of the Right to Recall Party secured 1,026 votes, and Bheekam Singh Kushwaha of the Mahanwadi Party received 724 votes. Additionally, 9,280 voters opted for "None of the Above" (NOTA).
Vidisha Lok Sabha constituency, located in Madhya Pradesh, is notable for its strong association with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It gained national prominence through its representation by the late Sushma Swaraj, the former Minister of External Affairs. The constituency went to polls on the 3 phase, 7 May.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on March 16.

The voter turnout recorded for this seat was 74.48 per cent, as per the data released by the Election Commission of India.
The Vidisha constituency comprises 8 Legislative Assemblies, Bhojpur, Sanchi (SC), Silwani, Vidisha, Basoda, Budhini, Ichhawar, and Khategaon. The constituency was established in 1967.
The prominent candidates include Shivraj Singh Chouhan from the Bharatiya Janata Party and Pratap Bhanu Sharma from the Indian National Congress.
In the 2019 Indian general election, BJP's Ramakant Bhargava won decisively with 853,022 votes, accounting for 68.23% of the total votes. The INC candidate, Shailendra Patel, received 349,938 votes, which was 27.99% of the total.

Similarly, in the 2014 general election, Sushma Swaraj of the BJP secured a substantial victory with 714,348 votes (66.55%), while the INC's Lakshman Singh garnered 303,650 votes (28.29%).
