Vehicle lifters' gang busted, 5 cars worth Rs 15 lakh seized

With arrest of four, a gang of vehicle lifters, including two van drivers who ferry students to two schools of repute, was busted, on Wednesday.Five four-wheelers worth Rs 15 lakh were recovered from them.

BHOPAL: With arrest of four, a gang of vehicle lifters, including two van drivers who ferry students to two schools of repute, was busted, on Wednesday. Five four-wheelers worth Rs 15 lakh were recovered from them. All vehicles were stolen in few days from new city areas.
The accused were identified as Suraj Kamble, 21, a resident of Arjun Nagar and driver of St Mary's School; Sagar Bagul, 22, a resident of Panchsheel Nagar and driver of Carmel Convent, Rakesh Suryavanshi, 20, a resident of Rahul Nagar, who works as a private driver and Sheikh Yunus, 58, a second Number bus stop based scrap dealer.

Kamble, Bagul and Suryavanshi were caught during vehicle checking drive near 5 Number Bus Stop on Wednesday, police said. The accused were in Maruti Zen car and reportedly confessed to stealing same vehicle from Harshvardhan Nagar 20 days ago. The accused also confessed to stealing three more cars, besides selling engine of a car to a scrap dealer, Sheikh Yunus.
The accused would reportedly change registration number of vehicles and colour to evade detection of stolen vehicle. Police said they would cut off chassis of cars.
